McGhee Tyson Airport

McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is located 12 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee. It is named after World War I US Navy pilot Charles McGhee Tyson. It is owned by the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority and is served by several major airlines. McGhee Airport is the home to McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, an airbase for the 134th Air Refueling Wing (134 ARW) of the Tennessee Air National Guard. Approximately 2,700 people are employed at TYS Airport.

McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is the premier air facility in East Tennessee. The airport serves commercial airlines, air cargo, military, and general aviation on a daily basis. TAC Air is the only fixed-base operator (FBO) at the airport. The FBO serves the general aviation industry, which includes corporate aviation, charter flights, flight schools, and persons who fly for pleasure.

McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is currently working on a Parking Garage Improvement Project that will entail resurfacing, restriping, and restriping all three floors of the parking garage. • Long-term Parking: The airport terminal building is a ten-minute walk from this parking lot. This parking lot has covered garage parking. Charges: $14
• Economy Lot: Two different economy parking areas are available behind the Airport Hilton. The airport terminal building is a fifteen-minute walk from this parking lot. Charges: $10

Rental car counters are located near the baggage claim on the lower floor of the airport terminal building. The company decides the counter hours. To ensure transportation once you arrive at the airport, we strongly advise you to book reservations in advance. Avis, Hertz, Alamo, Enterprise, and National car rental services are available at the airport.
